Happy two weeks birthday to Lilly! (yesterday) Lilly is doing extremely well according to her formal check-up yesterday with Dr. Jamsa. She weighed in at 7 lbs 4 oz and she actually shrank to 19.5 inches. We won't have to go to the doctor's again until Lilly is two months old at the end of March.
The transition at home has been going well. Princess Buttercup didn't take too kindly at first, but now she has realized that Lilly isn't leaving anytime soon and doesn't mind sharing our bed with Lilly. As for the "late nights," we've gotten into a pattern of going to bed at midnight and sleeping until 2 or 3 AM and getting more sleep between 5 and 7 AM. For the most part, Lilly is a happy girl and only seriously cries when her diaper is being changed (bc she's cold).
Brian is a fantastic dad and is very talented at changing diapers. Who knew we'd be so excited every time the kid poops? Brian has also been able to bottle-feed Lilly thanks to the breast pump my sisters sent us. Nursing is getting easier as the weeks pass.
Lilly has changed so much in just two weeks! Her dark features have become lighter, she has lots of eyelashes now and her cheeks are chubby and cute. She smiles a lot (subconsciously since infants aren't supposed to "smile" until around the two month range), usually in her sleep and when she's eating - like she's giggling. Lilly also makes certain faces and lately has been staying awake after eating and just hanging out, taking in her surroundings. Some of her most unusual faces are made before bathroom time, but we are getting to know and appreciate those faces quite well.
My mom has been here since the day Lilly was born and has been super helpful watching Lilly and helping out around the house. The cold weather of North Dakota has been a bit daunting for her, but she has truly enjoyed the time she's had with Lilly. We appreciate all the time she has spent with us and with Lilly these past weeks. Up next, perhaps a hockey game this Saturday. We figure that since there is no WWE Smackdowns going on here, a good old fashioned hockey brawl just might do the trick.
We are excited to have a Valentine's dinner tomorrow! We are going out at 9:30 for dinner at Sanders (where they unfortunately removed the pool table recently) and are looking forward to a little alone time. As much as we enjoy the parenting gig it will be awfully nice to have some time for just the two of us.
We have had many requests for pictures, namely from Graham and Jubs, so there is a fresh batch of pictures on Facebook and Picasa. To get to the Picasa pictures click on the following link: http://picasaweb.google.com/chillygoodman We will keep everybody posted with emails and blog postings. For now, have a nice night and we'll talk to you all later.
