Even though it is March, Monday of last week brought another blizzard to Grand Forks closing the interstate and shutting everything down - for a bit. But we do live in North Dakota so by Tuesday morning, everything was running as always just with lots of wind and snow. And per usual in our new basement bathroom, with freezing temperatures, came our frozen pipes.

Ironically, this week has been very warm and now all the snow is melting. It has melted so much, that we're even getting water in our home! Our house isn't the only one - Monday evening all of the neighbors were out in their yards, pumping water from their basements. The chances of extreme flooding are high this year and Grand Forks has already declared a state of emergency in anticipation of spring flooding and we purchased flood insurance. Officials think that the flooding could get close to "The Great Flood of 1997" but not worse. Woof.

On to more fun news:
Lilly's senses are getting better by the day and she's learning how to combine them (or so we've read). Lilly has started bringing her hands to her mouth and while we were concerned, it turns out that it's considered a cognitive developmental milestone. She can also hear, so when we hold our cell phones to her ear and you guys talk to her, she really is listening. She heard you call her "Chubby Cheeks" Jubs! We estimate that Lilly is about 10 lbs now (by way of weighing ourselves and then weighing ourselves holding Lilly). We think she may have gotten a bit longer too because her newborn onesies no longer fit (comfortably) and she has graduated into 0-3 months clothing! Lilly is still working on neck strength during tummy time, but she has learned to move herself by wiggling around. On Tuesday morning (3/17) Chilly went into the nursery to get Lilly at 530am and was shocked to find Lilly NOT at the center of the crib where she usually sleeps. Where was she? The little Lillybug had inched herself all the way to the top left corner of the crib!
these pictures were re-enacted of course!
She wakes up about once a night but definitely starts her day early at 5:30am. Chilly and Lilly have quite the routine, set to a television schedule. From 4am-10am if Lilly's up, she's eating and listening to the sounds of VH1's Jump Start and Top 20 videos - which are basically the exact same videos every 45 mins - aka Taylor Swift "Love Story", Lady Gaga "Just Dance", Kanye West "Heartless" and Kelly Clarkson "My Life Would Suck Without You". Then there's some active baby time and at noon Brian comes home and three of us have lunch and watch the comings and going of the Bradys, Hortons and DiMeras until Brian goes back to work and Chilly and Lilly leave Salem for the turbulent Llanview. Both Days of Our Lives and One Life to Live are focusing on "the baby switch" plot. The babies on both shows are not as cute as Lilly. She has an afternoon snack, we have tummy time and then go down for a nap until Dad comes home again, she hangs out, has a bath and then is all Brian's; usually they fall asleep together on the couch watching whatever Netflix has sent.
The past two weeks have been a lot of Lilly firsts! We realize now that she consciously smiles (she used to smile only when gassy). Her back-crawling in the crib episode was also a first. Last Thursday she had her first babysitter (not related to her) and Lilly DEFINITELY knew it. Amy M. was kind enough to watch L for us while we attended a funeral and 30 minutes into the service we received a message that L had not stopped crying since we left. An hour later when we came back, little Lilly was furiously crying. We don't know who was more traumatized, Amy or Lilly. The good weather this week allowed Lilly's first venture into the neighborhood and yard! She met our neighbors, the Stallmans, and got a breath of fresh air and spring!
