Fall Trip to VA and Reesie's Wedding

The last two weeks of September we spent in Virginia and North Carolina. Arisa flew out to Grand Forks on Friday to help me fly to VA with the three girls the following day. Gigi was wonderful on her first flight! Bingo was not so great with a long spell of crying from Minneapolis to DC. Gigi got to meet Yai and Tha for the first time! In Virginia I got to see high school friends and Sommer and her baby Ella, we made many trips to the American Girl store at Tysons and Dahlia came down from NYC to visit. We also got to see Arisa and Evan's new home. The end of the week brought the Kilmers from Seattle, Bubs, Pe-Jim and Brian. The girls were very excited to see cousins Bear Bear and Cora. Our trips to the AG store were plenty and Lilly was in heaven. She and I went to the Saige Celebration event and then Brian took her to the Fun Hair Do's lessons. The AG store also did a community storytime during the week, but the girls and I were the only ones there, so it was a private storytime.

Then we were off for Duck, NC for Arisa and Evan's wedding! But first we Goodmans made a stop in good old Williamsburg and the campus of William and Mary to show the girls where they too could one day go to college.

The beach house was beautiful and spacious and right on the beach. Unfortunately it was windier and chillier than expected, so we didn't use the pool much. Not that it mattered because the kids had a grand old time digging in the sand and playing in the waves. We visited Jockey's Ridge State Park and the Wright Brothers Museum during the week - essential to do while in Nags Head - at least once! Unfortunately we didn't get to go to any lighthouses. Lilly and Cousin Bear got to be roommates and were inseparable during the week.

Arisa and Evan's wedding was lovely. The festivities were held at Sanderling Resort. Everyone in the family participated in this wedding. All the sisters were bridesmaids, all the nieces were flower girls (even Gigi - asleep in her carrier), Bear was the Ring Bearer and the brother-in-laws read. Despite the wind, it was a beautiful afternoon. The reception was a lot of fun, the food delicious and Bubs and I pulled off a pretty decent toast. Unfortunately we were called to the bridal suite by the nanny bc Lilly was under the weather (turned out to be an ear infection) so I missed quite a bit of the reception. All in all though, it was a fun and beautiful wedding. Congratulations Arisa and Evan!
