30 Day Shred!




This blog is being written at 7AM. Why? Because today I started my "30 Day Shred". Well, not really, but I did finally open up my Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred DVD. Originally I bought it for Arisa who had read many testimonials via Amazon on how great a workout DVD it is. So I got her one and one for myself.

I've had this DVD for over a month and finally opened it this morning when I woke up to finish cleaning up from dinner last night. (It took a lot longer than normal to get Lilly to bed).


5 AM - the DVD was in and I started on Level 1. I haven't woken up this early to workout since freshman year of college - 10 years ago! But it was a GREAT workout and I finished it up with a quick jog around the block. It was very refreshing and quiet out.

The DVD is broken up into three 20 minute levels. Each level consists of JMs' 3-2-1 circuits: 3 minutes of strength training, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs. You go through three different circuits within the 20 minutes.



The exercises are basic, effective and are very much the same exercises that I do with my trainer at the gym. But I definitely got a workout at the Level 1 stage! You do need hand weights and be ready for a lot of push-ups, but as JM says - "When you feel the burn, the fat is coming off!"



I also have the "Dancing With the Stars" workout DVD - purchased because I really enjoy Zumba class. The DWTS DVD is pretty good - but as is with all dances, you've got to get the choreography first to really get into it. Don't get me wrong - I was definitely sweaty by the end of the first DWTS routine, but the 30 Day Shred is easier to follow.
