I very much have been looking forward to the British royal wedding of Prince William of Wales and Kate Middleton, but apparently I missed all the media coverage leading up to the big day. The only channels we watch nowadays are Nick Jr. and Disney - although Disney has been promoting the royal wedding with tips for "Royal Tea Parties with Princesses" - a play off of their very lucrative Disney Princesses franchise.
Brian (who is out of town) happened to call me at 1:30AM Friday morning - which was perfect timing as BBC coverage of the wedding started at 2AM (CST). Thank goodness for DVR because after ballet class this morning, Lilly and I came home to watch the real-life fairy tale.
Bride = gorgeous. Dress = amazing. very appropriate coverage of shoulders and arm. beautiful lace. a classic! Trees lining the aisle = amazing. Bouquet = love lily of the valley. All the pomp & circumstance = to die for. Hats & fascinators = interesting. Morning coats = fabulous. Maid of honor dress = also amazing. so flattering on her and lovely in white. Especially loved the buttons down the back. The Thai princess being shown and announced as part of the royal guests entering the church = BONUS.
I don't have much to say except that the royal couple look like two people who are truly happy (and surprisingly calm considering there was an expected 2 billion viewers watching their every move - and then of course having those moves, looks, and styles dissected and discussed on every media outlet and forum). My Facebook newsfeed was blown up with royal wedding statuses. It was an exciting day for the whole world it seems. I know some people think monarchies are dated but I say "Why be a hater? Can't you enjoy and respect tradition?" Three cheers for the British monarchy and of course the Thai monarchy! (and the Norwegian one too ( that's for Brian)).
For some more fun photos and facts - like Middleton did all of her OWN makeup w/Bobbi Brown Products, take a quick glance at my friend Katie's blog. She did a great job summarizing the event and details.
