Last Year of My 20's

For my 29th birthday, I celebrated with friends and family. The night before my actual birthday I came home from the gym to a delicious meal Brian prepared and Lilly singing “Happy Birthday” to me as soon as I walked through the door. After the meal Lilly presented me with gifts in gift bags – all of her choosing. You may recognize Julian the monkey (Paul Frank) from one of her favorite books, “In Dreams” and of course, the Disney Princesses made an appearance. Apparently Lilly thinks I need to be on the golf course more as she gifted me with a set of practice balls and game balls. Brian says that as she perused the aisles of Target she had a tough time choosing between Woody (the Toy Story doll) and golf balls. Brian bought me a pair of earrings that I spied earlier in the day at River City Jewelers. The “Waterfall” earrings are part of a Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis collection of costume jewelry by Camrose & Kross. The earrings are fabulous and they are super functional. You can wear them as the drop waterfall earrings or just as studs.

My actual birthday was spent at the country club’s Ladies’ Night volunteer clean-up. Yes it was my birthday, but as someone who helps plan these Ladies’ Nights I felt like I had to be there. Besides, the girls at the club surprised me with not one but two delicious birthday cakes!

Last weekend for my party we gathered all of our friends and went golfing. What kind of golf? “Bar Golf”. We played 9 (watering) holes with a longest putt, longest drive and closest to the pin competition. Everyone dressed up for our theme party and the few who were “too cool for school” and did not dress up felt very under-dressed. If you’re invited to a dress-up theme party – go big or go home! We split into 4 teams of 6 with par = 4 drinks, birdie = 6 drinks + 3 shots, eagle = 6 drinks and ROYGBIV shots and a hole in one was 6 drinks + 6 car bombs. We also rented a bus to drive everyone to all the bars and bring them home. Safety first! No drinking and driving here. Our friends found brand-new golf visors that actually said "Pub Golf" on them at a thrift store so everyone at the party got a visor too. Brian wore a green Masters coat (complete with a Masters patch) but everyone who dressed up looked awesome. Everyone had a great time!

If you were hoping to read some kind of epiphany post about the beginning of the end of my 20's this was not it.  Maybe some post in the future I'll compile a list of things I want to do before I'm 30, but until then my biggest concern and greatest want to do before I'm 30 is have Lilly know and recognize colors, numbers and letters. It's the little things.
