Monday night my contractions were pretty constant so Brian and I packed the Bug up and off to the hospital we went. We registered at about 11pm, put a sleeping Bug on s makeshift bed and waited to see if my contractions were just Braxton-Hicks or real ones. Apparently at some point my water had indeed broke, so we were in for the long haul. Some of you may be wondering - how can you not know if your water broke? VERY EASILY. First of all, it's not like this huge geyser of water come from you and secondly it varies from birth to birth.
So Brian took Lilly to Ron & Dana's where cousin Hunter is house-sitting and Aunt Amy came in from Thompson to be with Lilly.
Contractions HURT, so I got a wonderful epidural and caught up on sleep. Unfortunately my results came back postitive for Group B Strep so I was administered with an anti-biotic and we had to wait 4 hours before approaching child-birth.
Dr. Brown (my ob/gyn) was not on-call so hise partner Dr. Brewster was the "delivering" doctor although it was really the resident, Dr. Barnstable who delivered the babe. Our nurse Haley was also very very helpful.
Vivienne Louise Goodman was born at 4:53 am on Feb. 14, 2012. She weighed 6 lbs 11.8oz and measured 19 3/4 inches. She has a full head of black hair and has been a pretty quiet and alert baby. She didn't have a name for the first 30 minutes of her life, as we tried to figure out what to name her. We liked and contemplated: Virginia, Cecilia, Maxine Marie (Brian's grandmothers middle names), Vivienne and Lucille. Thanks for the suggestions of Vienna, Valentina and Valentinaves! :P
Lilly came back to the hospital around 6am and has been giddy and in love with her sister ever since. Bingo has had lots of pets, kisses and Lilly has gotten to hold her non-stop. Yai decided last minute that she is coming to North Dakota to meet Vivienne, so Aunt Amy is going down to Fargo today to get her while we are being discharged from the hopsital.
Here are a few pics of Viv!
