Lilly has applied for her passport! She'll be a busy little bee traveling to Lake of the Woods (Canada side) at the beginning of August, Victoria, B.C. at the beginning of September and then of course Costa Rica for Michael and Sam's wedding. She was all smiles for her passport photo - the custom agent is going to love stamping her book! Until 2014 her passport information will describe her as 23 inches tall and 14 lbs..... but with a great picture!
Brian and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary on June 3 which was also Max's 22nd birthday! Three years have gone by so quickly but at the same time that rainy day in Williamsburg seems like a lifetime ago. Since 2006 we've made a home in Grand Forks, Brian has a job that he loves, we've traveled to some amazing places and we have Lilly and Buttercup - we have a lot to be thankful for and to celebrate.
Lilly is twenty weeks old today. Talk about time going by quickly! Since she's almost 5 months old we figured it was time to start some foods. So on Thursday (6/11) we gave her baby cereal. It was a messy event, but well received. On Monday (6/15) Lilly ate bananas and her first bottle of formula. Bananas were even messier than the baby cereal. I was a bit reluctant to have Lilly drink formula milk after nursing her all this time, but since we'll be gone for a few days in July and Lilly will be with her Auntie Jubs, we have to get her used to formula. I don't think I can pump enough breastmilk to feed her while we're gone. When we put her in sitting position she can hold herself up - for a hot second before she topples over. She's also found her toes and tries everyday to put them in her mouth. Lately she's been fussy - some say "maybe she's teething" but I think she's at the point where she knows who mom and dad are and she knows that YOU are not them and it does NOT make her happy. She cried and cried while at the grandparents, cried when the Goodman boys watched her and cried so much at daycare at the gym that the sitter had to pull me out of Pilates class to calm her down. Good luck Jubs when you're watching her next month!

Brian turned 26 on 6/12. We celebrated twice, the first event was with the family at the Toasted Frog. We celebrated with friends at Rhombus Guys on his actual birthday and then came back to the house where the boys made up their own game of "backyard cricket". Brian received a video camera for his birthday so - there will be even more Lilly videos in future blogs!
Sunday 6/14 we took Lilly to the Elks Pool down the street. We were signed up for a "mommy and me" swim aerobics class but I figured we should take Lil to the pool to see if she even liked being in the water. As much as she loves bath time, the pool proved to be too chaotic, cold and loud for her liking. At first we put her in a ladybug floatie but she hated it. She didn't mind the pool too much when she was in Brian's arms, but the boys splashing around did bother her. Needless to say, I called Tammy on Monday morning and un-enrolled us from the swim class. However, Lilly made quite the impression on all the other moms and little girls at the pool - they were all complimenting her about her red polka dot bikini. She's so fabulous - even at this young age.
As it's summer time and television is re-run central, our Netflix-ing has increased tremendously. Here are our suggestions on the films we've recently screened:
"Bride Wars": 0-1/5 stars. woof. predictable. catch it when it hits TBS
"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button": 4/5 stars. Brad Pitt and Tilda Swinton - in a lot of movies together lately.
"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button": 4/5 stars. Brad Pitt and Tilda Swinton - in a lot of movies together lately.
"Valkyrie": 3/5 stars. pretty good (if you like historical movies)
"The Sting": 4/5 stars. Robert Redford looks like Brad Pitt!
We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of "Taken".
Actually, I take back the statement about television being on re-run central....our guilty pleasure show is on Bravo. The Real Housewives of New Jersey is a must-see. The finale was tonight and it was crazy. Crazy New Jersey women, mobbed up and scandalous! We can't wait for the "reunion" show next Tuesday. There has been the Real Housewives of the OC, Atlanta and NYC - but RHNJ by far is the best of this franchise. The next city to be featured is Washington D.C. ...I'm hoping to see the waterfront and Tysons Corner as the setting for some RH drama.
On the HBO front, True Blood has started its second season and Entourage is starting in July. It's going to be a Sookie and Vince kind of summer here on Sunday nights!
Here's a video by GoRemy about Arlington, VA. I suppose you have to be from or have lived in NoVA to appreciate it, but I think it's hilarious and Arisa's building and neighborhood are featured in the video and there's a shoutout to Vienna (via the Orange line).
