Summertime and The Livin's Easy

Lilly's Bedhead

Today was a long day in the Goodman household. Lilly came into our room to snuggle at about 7am, which meant that she slept in her crib from 9:30 until 7! For the childless majority out there, that is quite a feat. Now when I say she came into our room I don't mean she came on her own....she is not walking or leaving her crib yet. She is kind of crawling around these days though. She gets about a foot or two before she breaks down from heavy exertion, definitely a Goodman trait. She can change directions too and I've seen her turn left - lookout Zoolander, Lilly is on her way to the top! Chilly says that it is misleading to say she moves forward, and that she only moves side to side, however I swear I've seen her move forward. Thursday afternoon in the basement, I swear. ANYWAYS. The reason we were up so early was that today was haircut day! Chilly and Lilly had a joint appointment at the salon at 8:30. Sounds like a nice little Saturday doesn't it? Chilly's haircut was first, and we finished up with Lilly's 5 minute haircut. Lilly behaved like a champion, and there were no tears, shrieks, tantrums, fits or popped blood vessels. She stared at herself in the mirror and chewed on her apron. How sanitary.

Next we nipped around the corner to the farmers market where we scored some sweet produce. I ordered a cup of coffee to try and burn the taste of the horrible salon coffee out of my mouth and inadvertently burned my finger instead. Then we bought some produce - onions, rhubarb, peas and zucchini. No beets Arisa, maybe next week. We also bought a cloth Christmas book, which I am looking forward to reading to the kiddies for many Christmases to come. I'm thinking that Christmas Eve after copious Tom & Jerrys would be a perfect time to tell the tale of why we celebrate such a glorious day.

We came home after the market and had some blueberry pancakes, special deluxe a la Brian D Goodman. What follows up pancakes nicely you ask? Nap time. Two amazing hours of father daughter couch time with a little history channel playing in the background.

Nap time led into gardening time. Weed pulling. Watering. Awesomeness. I won't hold it against any of you if you are jealous of the fast paced, big city life we are leading here on Chestnut Street. Tomorrow I might mow the lawn, go to the pool, and grill ribs. I might drink some beer too. If you want in on anything I've mentioned, take some ginseng and get on down here. This is HOTTTT.

That's so cute- a mother daughter hair cut! I think she has almost as much hair as Spencer does.
