Friday night, my friend Shawn and I went to see the new film, "The Social Network". It was opening night and since I was running late we ended up in the front row. That was the only unfortunate thing that evening.
The movie is good, really good. It's amazing to think that all of this only happened a few years ago. Perhaps I find it more interesting than others, because I'm an avid Facebook user. The movie's focus is the founding of Facebook and two lawsuits that Mark Zuckerberg faced concerning the founding. One lawsuit is with his best friend Eduardo Saverin who claims that he is a co-founder since he bankrolled the idea. The second lawsuit is with the Winklevoss twins who say that Zuckerberg stole his idea. Before the movie was released, Zuckerberg was on Oprah and said that the movie portrayed him negatively - which is true. I (obviously) don't know if the character is true to the real person, but he's definitely socially awkward which makes him appear to be a prick, when really the character just wanted to be socially accepted. Justin Timberlake plays Sean Parker, a co-founder of Napster. (Not to be confused with Shawn Fanning - DEVELOPER of Napster). A side note - Sean Parker is a local boy from Vienna, VA! (He graduated from Oakton H.S.). The movie was adapted from the 2009 book, "The Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich.
The hype on the Internet claims that it could be an Oscar contender. The movie was number one at the box office for the weekend and almost every review has been extremely positive. I highly recommend seeing this movie, it's relevant, fresh and makes you think. (Makes you think in a different way than "Inception".) This article from thewrap.com is a good synopsis of the movie.

I am looking forward to seeing this movie. I read an article that JT is the only one who got to meet his real life counterpart (since Zuckerburg didn't want to have anything to do with the movie). Also, congrats to Brian on winning the ribs contest! Is he going to come over and cook that for us too? :)
