3 Mommies and the Hibernating Cub

It’s monsooning here in Virginia. The rain started yesterday and it has been torrentially down-pouring all day today. The local weathermen are expressing concern that the Potomac will flood. Lilly and I took Tha to the podiatry surgeon today. The wound is healing and the at-home nurse who assumed it was MRSA staph infection was corrected. The anti-biotic Tha was on treated MRSA, but was only given to him as a precaution. Thankfully, it’s just a plain old staph infection that is doing marvelously well and NOT MRSA. The stitches come out on Oct. 11. The hole in the foot will still be there, but it’s slowly filling up.

Casey, the resident kitty, has been tolerating Lilly – but that’s probably because Lilly loves giving her treats. This past summer Casey turned 15 years old (human years). She’s still as quick and mobile as in her younger days.

We made a trip to one of “the best places ever” – COSTCO! (Brian’s probably having a heart attack right now if he’s reading this). Lilly is a lover of Costco too. We don’t have a Costco in ND so we try to stock up on non-perishable items I can ship back to ND when we’re here in VA. Lilly enjoyed all the samples, Arisa got some Tumi luggage, Bubs got Legal Seafood Restaurant Lobster Bisque and I picked up some Christmas presents for Grandma Bernie. Costco, I love you.

I'm not her mommy.

Lilly has been spending a lot time with her two VA aunties. In fact she’s taken to calling them “mommy”. I’m “Mama”, and Bubs is “Bubba” and Arisa is “Risa” or occasionally “Bubba”. But when Lilly’s trying to get someone’s attention, “mommy” is the general term she uses. She sees Bubs in the morning, at lunchtime and every night and follows her around whenever she’s home. Auntie Arisa comes by all weekend and most evenings. Lilly especially loves Auntie Arisa because she spoils her. (Arisa – Lilly does not need to be hand-fed food!) Besides talking to Brian over Skype, Lilly has also been able to see her kitty, Princess Buttercup and has also been able to Skype with Graham and PuaPhi. Lilly has also had lots of fun playing around with Uncle Jeff.

We currently are waiting for the Bear to make his grand entrance into the world. Jubs was due last Saturday, September 25, but the Bear is still hibernating. Hurry up Bear! Yai is leaving on Monday!
