Documentary?!?!

Yesterday morning as the light was starting to fade from our "big J&J day" I received a phone call from the production company that is filming an accompanying documentary. The documentary will be an hour-long broadcast on the WE channel (Women's Entertainment) and will showcase five of the fifty families from the Johnson and Johnson coffee table book.

Apparently the photo crew sent them an email after our shoot recommending us to be considered for the documentary! The deadline is today, so it sounds like we made it into the pool just in the nick of time! We had to send in photos of all three of us together, video footage of us having our joyous moments and share some of our joys and frustrations with the Bug.

Brian was apprehensive about the whole thing at first. Obviously we're all very flattered that they photo crew thought so highly of Lilly and our family, but at the same time, if we're chosen -it's a big commitment to allowing cameras into our lives. (The film crew would be out here for 3-4 days). Then again, what are the chances of being chosen? We're already so excited to represent North Dakota and the growing American population of mixed kids. (there's probably a PC term for that, but this is my blog and who's really reading this? - family & friends - so sorry if you're offended).

I was all for this from the get-go. I think it's a great idea for a show about kids and the people who raise them especially since shows that are on television right now that deal with this subject, cast the concept as a train wreck. (MTV's Teen Mom comes to mind. I have no problem admitting I watch this show)

Since Brian's a great guy who goes along with whatever I want to do, he was in for the process of getting our submission together for the film production company. After work last night, Ron & Dana came over to take some photos of us and Cousin Max came over and filmed our family time.

So, we'll see where this goes. It's pretty cool to even be recommended for consideration - so we're happy with that!

The production company for the documentary is: The Pilgrim Films & Television. They currently produce My Fair Wedding, American Chopper, Dirty Jobs, Ghost Hunters, Top Shot, Ultimate Fighter and an assortment of other shows. ( I LOVE LOVE LOVE My Fair Wedding!!)

THAT'S SO AWESOME!!! Congratulations chica! :) As for a p.c. term for being "mixed"...I thought mixed WAS the p.c. term LOL! Some other ones seem a lot more offensive (i.e.- halfies). In the late '90s, the term "hapa" was introduced to me & I was told that it was short for "hapa haole" (or half white) and defined as having at least one parent of Asian heritage.
