I'm Scared

We cannot really pinpoint when Lilly started using this phrase ("I'm scared") or understood what it meant, but she does. Maybe it's from around her birthday time when we received the book, Monsters are Afraid of the Moon - we read it almost everyday (by her choice).

She's become very suspicious of any different noise she may hear. The good news is that this means she has excellent hearing.

But yesterday the Bug was scared. Of what? Of one of the tiniest and simple creatures on Earth. We were in the bathroom washing her face of spaghetti sauce from lunch when I spotted a little LADYBUG on the windowsill. I said, "Lilly, look there's a ladybug!" She peered closely at the window and said "Where Mommy?" I pointed out the little bug to her and she went berserk! She screamed her head off and started shaking in terror. She eventually ran out of the bathroom to the furthest corner of her bedroom and was crying when I got in there. "I'm scared Mommy. I'm scared of ladybug. No bathroom!" It took at least 5 minutes to calm her down. Even though I told her ladybugs were nice, she was having nothing to do with the bathroom or ladybugs.

In the evening when it was bath time, she was very hesitant to go in, until we told her the ladybug had gone to bed and was not in the bathroom.

The Lillybug does not dig ladybugs.
