First Day of School: Fall 2011

I guess I'll smile for you

Today was our first day of school (again) for the Fall semester. We're back at UCC, twice a week for now. Unfortunately in the afternoon, although it has been pointed out to me that when the kid arrives I may like that I won't be in a hurry to bundle baby and Lilly up in the morning to get to school by 8:30. What I do not like about afternoon school is that Lilly misses out on the breakfast and lunch meals that are provided in the morning session... (aka we're missing out on getting the best bang for our buck!) and of course the routine of getting up early to go to school.

Lilly was not thrilled about going back to school. From the get-go she said she didn't want to go to school because she would miss Mommy. Then she said she'd go to school, but only if Daddy picked her up. Little did she know that Daddy was playing in the Air Force Base Community Golf Tournament today! But she's a trooper and she posed for my camera for the obligatory "backpack on, in front of the house and off to school" shot AND she posed outside of school.

When we got to school she was excited to be there, (finally) said goodbye to me, gave me a kiss and ushered me out the door. All is well, right? Not really. When I picked her up later in the afternoon, Teacher Tina was holding her and in the midst of telling her that her parents would pick her up. Apparently Lilly had a "Sad" day, did not play with anyone and kept to herself. After snack time, she seated herself on the carpet and waited patiently and stared longingly at the entrance waiting for someone (me or Brian) to come collect her. Teacher Tina thinks that Lilly is so used to eating (lunch) and then getting picked up (from our morning schedule) that she probably thought that was what was going to happen again. Our poor Bug.

Thanks Yai and Tha for calling this morning to send her off to school. She told you guys that she would be sad at school, and she was. Thank you also Sommer for MORE super cute Lilly Pulitzer outfits. Buggy's first day of school outfit was fabulous!
