Eclipse
I finally saw Eclipse a few weeks ago, but was reminded of it since we've been in Seattle. Needless to say, there are TONS of Twilight references in the "touristy" areas. (Since the novels take place in Forks, WA) Today we drove up to Tulalip to go to the Outlets and all the evergreens reminded me of the movie. Also, the Seattle Art Museum will be presenting an exhibition by the Quileute Nation on Sat. Aug. 14 (Jacob Black's tribe from the movie) called: Behind the Scenes: The Real Story of the Quileute Wolves.
The movie follows the book to a perfect T. The fight scenes which have been overly-advertised are pretty good and there are a lot of shirtless scenes for Taylor Lautner fans. Same love story, but Jacob is still fighting for Bella's love. The vampires and the wolves join forces to conquer Victoria and the new baby vampires whose power is at its height. I like that the various backgrounds of the Cullen coven is delved into in this novel/movie.
I was surprised during the opening scene, which I didn't realize was even the beginning - I thought I was watching another preview. The cinematography is beautiful and makes you want to be outdoorsy. If you read the books or even Wikipedia - then you know what to expect. In order to watch Eclipse, I think you have to know what happened in the first two books to understand. The movie is definitely catered to it's Twilight Saga fans - the producers/directors/screenwriters expect you to know the characters and their powers. It was a good set up for the last novel which will be presented in cinema form in two parts.
I'd give it a B. Decent movie. I could've waited to Netflix or HBO it.
Has anyone seen the previews for the spoof: Vampires Suck? A WHOLE spoof-movie based on the Twilight series!
