Sleepless in Seattle

Lilly and I are visiting Cheryl and Randy in Washington this week before their little one arrives at the end of September! We've been "sleepless in Seattle" bc Lilly has had a hard time adjusting to the time change. She's been getting up at her usual time of 7:30-9:00 central time, but that puts us at 5:30-7:00am PST. And IT.IS.EARLY! It's been extremely foggy that early in the morning here! Also, technically we are not in Seattle anymore since they've moved to a great spacious house in Lynnwood (a 25 minute drive north of Seattle).

It was another successful plane trip for Lilly. She made friends with a very sweet little boy around her age and his older brother who was six years old. The six year old asked me if Lilly took a class on being nice, bc she was "sooooooo sweet!"

Cheryl looks fantastic!!! Her baby belly is so cute! On Sunday we got to celebrate the impending arrival of "the prince" with a baby shower hosted by some of Cheryl's girlfriends. I won the nursery rhyme game! (which was really hard and I'm totally stealing to use, should I ever host a baby shower) Baby boy clothes are cute, but little girl clothes are cuter! I've also noticed that baby boy clothes mostly have a theme of sports. "Mom's little slugger", "Dad's number one rookie", etc.

We went to the nearby Alderwood Mall which is both indoors and out - an enjoyable experience and ate at Claim Jumper - which was really good! I think it's a chain restaurant, but great bang for your buck. I even had roasted artichokes with garlic aioli as an appetizer! I very rarely see whole artichokes on a menu, so it was a pleasant surprise.

Tuesday evening I played softball on Randy's co-ed softball team and I'm proud to say I was able to hit every ball. The softball games are played on Mercer Island and we ate at The Islander afterwards. Lilly was a great little cheerleader.

Wednesday we met Randy for lunch in downtown Seattle and then people-watched down there. I'm always amazed at the beautiful flowers and fruits and vegetables at Pike Place Market. We took Lilly to the waterfront and into the arcade where she had a blast. She loves "driving" the video game cars! And the best part is you don't even have to use any money bc she doesn't realize yet, that the game isn't starting. Cheryl got Lilly a classic Seattle book celebrating it's 35th anniversary, Wheedle on the Needle, by Stephen Cosgrove.  It's a good book about resolving issues and development of land. It was a little long for Mommy to read to Lilly (at this age), but we like it - it's a keeper!

Lilly has learned to call Cheryl "Ba" which is "aunt" (older than mother/father) in Thai. She sort of says "Jubjang". She loves holding Cheryl's hand whenever we go anywhere. She's warming up to Uncle Randy. And her new best friend is Hobbs, the three-legged cat. Hobbs has been very patient and friendly with Lilly. Perhaps, it's bc he's a boy cat. Lilly loves him!

I didn't bring my camera cord, so pictures will follow after we get back to GF!

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

I love Pike Place. I wish we got to see each other there, too bad the timing was off :( Anyways, miss you! Early congrats to your sister!
