Halloween

Not Lilly's first Halloween, but her first where she understood that she was wearing a costume and that candy flows like water on Oct. 31!

Eddie the lion won "scariest toddler costume" Lilly the bumblebee won "cutest costume"

Lilly ended up going in her bumblebee costume this year, (Thank you Auntie Risa) and she had many opportunities to Buzz around in it. Thursday morning it was Halloween day at the library's reading time and we went to ballet on both Friday and Saturday so she got to wear it to each class. Sunday afternoon she attended the children's Halloween party at the country club and she won the "Cutest Costume" award.

Trick-or-Treating was a fun event later that evening. Lilly made the rounds at Grandma and Grandpa's house, their neighbors, Great-Grandma Bernie and Lance's parents. On our street she went to five houses and was greeted with much gusto. She loved that she could ring a doorbell and that people would give her candy! She can't say trick-or-treat but she'll give you a great big smile if you give her candy. She walked around with a jack-o-lantern that used to be Brian's when he was younger. She enjoyed all the kids coming to her house and we were pleasantly surprised when her two best buddies, Eddie and Myles came to our house. She was terrified of costumes that included scary masks. All in all, Halloween was a big winner at our house.

It was Halloween for us grown-ups too! Chilly worked on the Halloween party at the country club, specifically the mad scientist laboratory that consisted of a sensory experience. Thank you cousins Hunter and David for acting as the mad scientist and his assistant. The laboratory freaked out a lot of the kids who were too scared to touch the "eyeballs, brain and heart" among other things. A success! We went to a Halloween party Saturday evening and Brian dressed up as Edward Cullen. He was most pleased when college age girls at the bar guessed his costume and found him as dreamy as Rob Pattinson. Chilly went the sophisticated route and dressed as Medusa.

We only got 120 trick-or-treaters this year. (Down 52 from last year). We attribute this to Halloween being on a Sunday evening. Chilly's silver pumpkin was a hit with trick-or-treaters and chaperones alike.
