Yesterday at Brian's parents house, Dana gave us a bouquet of purple tulips from her garden. They were for our tulip vase - a purchase from a trip to Amsterdam 2 years ago. We got back pretty late and I put the flowers into a regular vase so I could put Lilly to bed, with the intention of arranging the flowers in the tulip vase today. After the flowers and water were in the vase, I threw in a penny.
I've been told that a penny (perhaps the copper?) will keep the tulips from becoming droopy...as tulips tend to do. Here is the photographic evidence! So remember - a penny goes in the vase with the tulips!

I have heard that too. I have also heard sugar or sprite (cause of the sugar). Tulips are so pretty, they're one of my fav flowers next to peonies (a recent discovery).
